Lubomir played great in Edmonton, but did he like it here or not? That will have to be the first question to be answered. With his familiarity with the Oilers and they with him, could this be a good fit and would this be a positive move for the Oilers blue line? I would say if Visnovsky would like to come here then the Oilers should upgrade with him.
There is no questioning Visnovsky's offensive attributes. Visnovsky can play 20-23 minutes a night and he can QB a power play. He does not however play a lot of penalty kill time. He's a legit 40 point defenseman; the Oilers don't yet have a legitimate power play quarterback.
Some concerns for the Oilers would be that he is 35 years old. He has one more season at 3 million, but an actual cap hit of 5.6 million.
The defense needs an upgrade and Visnovsky may fit the bill as a so called transitional veteran until a player like Oscar Klefbom is ready to play in Edmonton.
